The Health & Fitness major offers students a thorough understanding of human health and wellness. They gain a strong understanding of scientific principles that govern human performance, as well as a foundation in human anatomy and physiology. In addition, students can choose from a variety of elective classes to customize their studies to meet their individual interests. Some of the elective courses available in the Health & Fitness major include courses that explore the human body’s structure and function during physical activity. Other courses may focus on proper nutrition and fitness for specific population groups. Students can also apply their knowledge through internships.
Membership options

There are a variety of health and fitness Ohio membership options available, depending on your needs and budget. Some are for single people only, while others can include a spouse or domestic partner. There are also options for children ages 12 to 24. The latter membership category includes FREE child-care.
Courses offered

Health and fitness courses teach students how to live a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and exercise. They explore critical health issues and develop healthy habits that will benefit the body, mind, and spirit. Course topics include cardiovascular exercise, nutrition, and stress management. They also discuss disease prevention and early detection. Students also learn about the effects of vitamins, proteins, and carbohydrates on the body, as well as the environmental factors that affect health.

The Exercise Science and Health Promotion major emphasizes the development of an individualized program. Students also study the elements and methods of fitness and learn to administer and interpret the test results. The course also includes practical experiences in teaching group and individual wellness activities. Students will also learn how to adapt exercise programs for special populations.

Students who graduate with a health and fitness course from Tiffin University will be prepared for entry-level positions in the health and fitness field. They’ll learn how to design fitness and health regimens, how to deal with changing health throughout a lifetime, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
